Statistically speaking, India has :-

  • 903 Universities
  • 50,000 colleges and other kinds of degree-awarding institutions.
  • 36 million students enrolled in these institutions
  • International students make up around 50,000 of the total

The Government of India has launched an initiative to make make it easier for international students to select suitable Indian universities. As per Prakash Javadekar, the human resource development minister in charge of education, “India can become a hub of affordable education for foreign students.”

The key word here is affordable. For students from around the world looking for affordable and quality education – India offers many opportunities.

The government’s goal is to increase the number of international students to 200,000 in five years. In support of this goal, officials announced that 55 percent of 15,000 total places on offer across institutions would be supported by merit-based fee-waivers at differential rates for students from Asia and Africa.
